Venice is one of the most famous cities in Italy, and people from all over the world fly there to experience the characteristic canals which run throughout the city. Venice is located in northern Italy, is the capital of the Veneto region and consists of around 118 small islands brought together by canals. Venica has many names, of which a few of them are "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Masks", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". No city can quite compare to the connotations and status this city has achieved throughout the years, and it’s a huge tourist attraction in Europe. Even a central part of Los Angeles has been named after the city, called ‘Venice Beach’.

You can’t blame the tourists visiting Venice though, as the city has plenty to offer both culturally, historically, architecturally and musically. The lagoon and part of the city is even declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. 

Artistically Venice has an important role in the renaissance period, as a centre of creative development. For instance the city is the birthplace of great baroque musicians such as Baroque composers Tomaso Albinoni and Antonio Vivaldi. The musical environment in Venice is in general quite exceptional and the main event on the itinerary of many visitors.

The cuisine is equally memorable, and many lavish restaurants decorate the sides of the canals. There are also markets which offer a broad variety of fresh produce to cook at home.

The city is only a few kilometres wide and takes around an hour to cross from one side to the other on foot. It’s not recommended to go by car as it’s close to impossible and there’s little to no public transport on land, you can however easily hop on a canal taxi and experience the charismatic canals of Venice.

Accomodation in Venice is one of the more troublesome, as many of the housing opportunities have been turned into airbnbs. However if you’re able to find accomodation close to the centre, the view is sured to be both beautiful and romantic in the best European way. Many settlers chose to find housing a bit further away from the city, which is a lot cheaper and accessible with public transport, broad roads etc.
